本剧改编自豆瓣阅读连载小说《隐身的名字》，作者易难。                                                                      　　该剧围绕任小名（倪妮 饰）青春时期的日记被丈夫刘潇然（保剑锋 饰）窃取后发表，引出了这本日记背后动人心魄的故事，通过任小名与旧友柏庶（刘雅瑟 饰）、母亲任美艳（闫妮 饰）、启蒙老师周老师（董洁 饰）、柏庶的母亲葛文君（刘敏涛 饰）等多位女性之间交织的命运，展现出平凡而伟大的女性情感。
